Supply Teaching is designed around a simple principle:
Collect the minimum. Explain openly. Never be creepy.
The site can be used without creating an account, uploading a CV or providing your name, email address or telephone number.
This Privacy Policy explains what information may be collected when you use the site, why it is used and how it is handled.
Who we are
Supply Teaching is an independent Boin Web Services project.
Website: supply-teaching.co.uk
For privacy enquiries, contact privacy@boin.co.uk.
Information you choose to share
Some tools allow you to contribute information anonymously to help build a better picture of the supply teaching market.
For example, the Pay Checker may collect information such as:
- your role
- education phase
- type of supply work
- whether you are paid through PAYE, an umbrella company or another arrangement
- your current day rate
- a general location or outward postcode district
We do not need your name, email address, telephone number, CV or full home address for this.
Where a postcode is used, the site is designed to retain only the broader location needed for market analysis rather than your full postcode.
Pay Checker and market data
Anonymous information shared through the Pay Checker may be combined with responses from other users to produce market information such as:
- typical rates shared
- response counts
- comparisons between areas
- trends over time
Individual responses are not displayed publicly.
Public rate information is only shown where there are enough suitable responses to meet the site’s configured display threshold.
You can read more about how this works on our Methodology page.
Supply Pulse
Supply Pulse may allow visitors to anonymously share how much supply work they have been getting.
Responses may be combined to produce an overall picture of supply activity.
Individual responses are not intended to identify the person who submitted them.
Preventing abuse
To protect the quality of anonymous data and reduce repeated or automated submissions, the site may use limited technical information.
This can include:
- a browser-based anonymous contributor identifier
- temporary or hashed network information
- submission timestamps
- anti-spam or rate-limiting information
These measures are used to prevent abuse and maintain the integrity of the site’s tools rather than to build profiles of individual visitors.
Where IP addresses are used for anti-abuse purposes, the system is designed to use them in a limited form, such as a short-lived hash, rather than retaining them as part of a public market response.
Server logs
Like most websites, our hosting provider may record technical information when you access the site.
This can include:
- IP address
- browser and device information
- requested pages
- date and time of requests
- server errors
These logs may be used for security, troubleshooting and maintaining the website.
They are not used to create recruitment profiles.
Cookies and similar technology
The site may use cookies or browser storage where necessary for features to work properly.
This can include remembering things such as:
- whether your browser has already contributed a response
- security or anti-abuse information
- WordPress login information for authorised site administrators
Strictly necessary cookies or storage may be used without optional tracking being enabled.
If we introduce analytics, advertising or other non-essential cookies, we will provide appropriate information and consent controls before using them where required.
Advertising
The site may display advertising in the future.
If third-party advertising services such as Google AdSense are introduced, they may use cookies or similar technologies.
Where consent is required for advertising or related tracking, those services should not be activated until the appropriate consent has been obtained.
This policy will be updated when advertising services are introduced.
Analytics
We may use website analytics to understand how the site is being used and which content is useful.
If analytics technology uses cookies or similar identifiers that are not strictly necessary, it will be subject to appropriate consent controls.
Contact forms
If you contact us through a contact form or by email, we may receive information such as:
- your name
- email address
- the contents of your message
This information will only be used to respond to your enquiry and deal with any appropriate follow-up.
It is not automatically added to the Pay Checker or other anonymous market datasets.
Accounts
Most visitors do not need an account.
If accounts are introduced for particular features, we may need to store the information required to provide and secure that account.
Any additional use of account information will be explained when the feature is introduced.
Comments
Public commenting is not currently a core part of the Supply Teaching service.
If comments are enabled in future, this policy will be updated to explain what information is collected and how it is used.
Embedded content and external services
Pages may contain links to or embedded content from other websites.
Embedded content can behave as though you visited the third-party website directly. Those services may collect information, use cookies or record interactions according to their own privacy policies.
External websites are responsible for their own privacy practices.
Why we use information
Depending on the activity, information may be used to:
- provide the tools and features you request
- produce anonymous and aggregated market information
- protect the site from spam, abuse and manipulation
- maintain site security
- diagnose technical problems
- respond to messages
- understand and improve how the site is used
Where appropriate, Boin Web Services may rely on legitimate interests for limited processing needed to operate, secure and improve the service, provided those interests do not override people’s rights and freedoms.
Who we share information with
We do not sell personal information.
Information may be processed by service providers needed to operate the website, such as:
- website hosting providers
- security or anti-spam services
- analytics providers, if enabled
- advertising providers, if enabled in future
- email or contact-form services, where applicable
We may also disclose information where required by law.
How long information is kept
Information is kept only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected.
Different information may have different retention periods.
For example:
- anonymous market responses may be retained for historical comparison and trend analysis
- short-lived anti-abuse information may be retained only for the period necessary to prevent repeated submissions
- security logs may be retained according to hosting and security requirements
- contact messages may be retained while an enquiry is being dealt with
Retention periods will be reviewed as the site develops.
Your rights
UK data protection law may give you rights over personal information we hold about you, including access, correction and deletion in certain circumstances.
Where information is linked to an identifiable email address, we may use WordPress’s built-in privacy tools to process access or deletion requests.
Many Supply Teaching tools are deliberately anonymous. If a contribution is not linked to information that identifies you, we may not be able to determine which individual response belongs to you.
For privacy enquiries, contact privacy@boin.co.uk.
Complaints
If you have concerns about how your personal information is being handled, please contact us first at privacy@boin.co.uk so the issue can be investigated.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Changes to this policy
