​Step Teachers are a preferred supplier for Teach in Herts; as a part of our ongoing success in building and retaining relationships with many schools and academy trusts in the area we are currently looking for Cover Supervisors in Stevenage to start in October 2022 for supply work.

We work with a variety of schools in and around Stevenage. The role of a Cover Supervisor will allow you to gain teaching experience in a variety of schools and build your confidence as a teacher.

Role:

  • Cover lessons in the absence of the regular teacher

  • Ensure the class are on target with the pre-set work

  • Effectively manage the behaviour of the class

  • Upkeep a tidy, organised classroom with accessible resources where needed

  • Direct and support any additional staff in the classroom where applicable

  • Willingness to comply with the schools’ policies and implement them effectively

Requirements:

  • Completed undergraduate degree or higher

The school are looking for staff who are able to make an impact within their school, and are specialists within their subject areas. The ethos of the school is centered around respect, and that the effective collaboration between students and staff is key to success.

Role:

  • Strong knowledge of the KS3 and KS4 History curriculum

  • Organised and professional maintenance of the classroom and the associated resources

  • Work effectively with other members of staff, both within the department and throughout the school

  • Ability to assess students, monitor their progress, and provide constructive feedback

  • Able to plan and deliver engaging and comprehensive lessons

  • Compliance with the schools’ policies and the reliable implementation of these

Requirements:

  • Hold QTS or an equivalent qualification for teaching in secondary school

  • Have recent mainstream school-based experience teaching humanities at secondary school level.

  • Have a good level of classroom and behaviour management

  • A relevant History related degree is desirable.

  • SEND experience is desirable

This school, now rated "GOOD" by OFSTED, is looking for staff to maintain these standards and help the school and its students to thrive. The school takes a holistic approach to its curriculum to ensure students develop not only academically, but as well rounded individuals.
