​Step Teachers are seeking a qualified teacher to work as an NTP Tutor in local schools, working with children in KS1/KS2 for Liskeard and the surrounding areas.

The pupils have been specially selected to be part of the programme to help them catch up to their peers and re-build their confidence. Therefore, they must have the same tutor for the entire duration of the assignment.

The rate of pay will be £23-30 per hour.

Being an NTP tutor is convenient for qualified teachers who are looking to get back into work after periods of time away from teaching and want part-time, flexible hours to fit current commitments.

To be an NTP Tutor you will need to have one of the following

    • Qualified Teacher with QTS or equivalent

    • A degree in either Maths, English

The right candidate must...

  • Have strong knowledge of the UK curriculum and experience in tutoring or teaching in a classroom

  • Be flexible with the hours they can work and willing to commit to long-term

  • Be Confident in behavioural management skills. 

  • Be able to think on their feet and use different scaffolding strategies to teach the pupils

  • Have an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service

The role:

  • Strong curriculum knowledge at KS3 & 4

  • Upkeep a tidy, organised classroom and sports area’s with accessible resources where needed

  • Direct and support any additional staff in the classroom where applicable

  • Ability to assess and report on your students when required

  • Able to plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons

Requirements:

  • Hold QTS or the equivalent of

  • ECTs accepted

  • Relevant subject-specific degree is desirable
